Shopping made easier with our Staff Picks

Peak season is busy enough. Our store teams have picked the mattresses, bases and bedding they recommend most, so you have a shorter list to work from.

Why we started sharing our Staff Picks

Peak season is the busiest time of year in our stores, and the same questions come up over and over: what should I buy, will it arrive in time, and is it actually any good? Staff Picks is our answer. Every product here has been chosen by the people who sell it, set it up and hear what customers say six months later.

There is no ranking and no sponsored placement. If a mattress or a quilt keeps coming back in conversation on the shop floor, it earns a spot on this list.

The mattresses our team keeps recommending

Most people walk in knowing roughly what they want to spend and very little else. Our team starts with feel rather than features, because the firmness that suits a side sleeper will keep a back sleeper awake. Lie on it for ten minutes in the position you actually sleep in — that tells you more than any spec sheet.

These three come up in nearly every conversation. They cover the range from a first mattress in a share house to a bed you expect to keep for a decade.

How the three picks compare

Feel is a guide only — try each one in the position you sleep in.

Bedding worth the upgrade

A good mattress under tired bedding is a wasted upgrade. If you are only changing one thing this summer, make it the pillow — it is the cheapest fix for a sore neck and the one most people put off longest.

After that, a breathable quilt in a lower fill weight. Australian summers do not need the same quilt as a Melbourne winter, and swapping between two is far more comfortable than fighting one all year.

“People worry about picking the wrong mattress. The bigger mistake is keeping the right one for fifteen years.”
Amy Smith, Sleep Consultant

Getting it home before the holidays

December is the one month where timing matters as much as the product. Anything you are buying as a gift, or for a spare room before visitors arrive, is worth ordering earlier than feels necessary.

Ask in store about the delivery window for the exact size and colour you want — it varies by product, and our team can tell you what is in the warehouse rather than what is on back order.
